Tyrel Larson

Emily Noton

Tyrel Larson is a native of Alberta, born and raised in the Edmonton area. He started dancing at the tender age of 6 in a small basement studio in Millet, Alberta before eventually migrating to Sandra Gray School of Dancing in Edmonton at the age of 10. Learning a wide variety of dance genres including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical theatre and Lyrical, Tyrel was most heavily focused on Jazz and Tap. After attending summer schools in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the National Ballet School in Toronto, he decided to take a serious step towards ballet and professional dance by becoming a full year student at the National Ballet School in 1999. He graduated two years later and spent a further year in Toronto in the post graduate program at NBS.

Tyrel is currently a soloist at the Kevin O'Day Ballet Mannheim at the National theatre Mannheim in Mannheim Germany. He joined the ensemble shortly after his completion of the post-graduate year in Toronto in 2002. Though most work is created on the dancers of the ensemble by the two in house choreographers/directors Kevin O'Day and Dominique Dumais, Tyrel has enjoyed dancing works from other choreographers such as Robert Glumbek, Antonio Gomez, Bridgette Breiner, James Kudelka and Twyla Tharp.

Tyrel currently has no plans to leave Mannheim. However he will mostly likely remain dancing in Europe and continue to explore and grow in contemporary dance field.

We are very pleased to have Tyrel return to teach contemporary / modern and as one of our distinguished line up of teachers at the SGSD summer school 2010.
